Science Fact & Science Fiction Concatenation

Seasonal science fiction and science fact news and reviews N. hemisphere spring, summer and autumn). Each of the three seasonal bulletins carries a sizeable news page that has subsections of principal SF news areas including major news (awards etc), author news, film news, book trade news, television SF, as well as forthcoming SF and separately fantasy book reviews listings from major British Isles SF imprints. Among other subsections are those on science (general, astronomy & space, natural science, and SF-science interface). Each seasonal edition also has standalone articles and standalone book reviews. Each year also has a national SF convention and film release diary, a cinematic SF/F box office top ten plus a science and SF oddities & whimsy column. In between each seasonal edition is a one-page SF short story PDF that represents the best of the science journal Nature weekly 'Futures' shorts by special arrangement with Nature. Concatenation is a science fiction site run mainly by scientists and engineers into SF. It is for busy folk who want a seasonal, but reasonably comprehensive, overview of the SF scene.

Does life on Mars doom humanity?

We do not see alien civilisations, so a 'Fermi filter' may prevent their rise. If we find life on Mars then the rise of life is not the difficult evolutionary step. If the Fermi filter is not in our past, then it must be something in our future that prevents us going to the stars. Recent discoveries on Mars may therefore be worrying!
